Minimum wage requirements by state
The data in the following are drawn from the United States Department of Labor and are accurate as of 02-13-10. All employers in all states are subject to the Federal minimum wage unless state requirements are more generous. In other words, because a state does not have a minimum wage law, or permits a minimum wage of $2.00 per hour – Oklahoma – does not mean the employer does not have to pay a minimum of $7.25 per hour. All information provided below may change with little or no notice, so an employer considering a new hire or reviewing his compensation rates for compliance should go to the labor commission, however formally designated, for his locality for an update. Note also that in some states localities may enact “living wage” ordinances that must be observed.
